I found a photograph of umbrellas stacked against a fence for a resort, and I remember a house in Solana Beach California, which was on the sand, the sliding doors opened out onto a Mexican paver patio, with a fence on one side and direct access to the sand out the front through a low gate. Access to the beach for public would have been at the end of a street, ending at the sand.

I have this single photo from the painting process. I recall fighting back and forth with the color of the sand, over and over until it felt right.
