Flower Unfolding, 2018

Every once in a while the light at night across the kitchen island in my house is perfect. It is lit by two wire frame basket fixtures with 40 watt incandescent old-style filament bulbs. And the light it casts is really exceptional.

This is also the filmic quality Fuji manages to pull off in its cameras and lenses. Canon, Olympus, Panasonic – all create a beautifully colored crisp image, but there’s a jarring clarity to the lines and the edges feel like I’m just missing something. Fuji uses a different pattern of sensor which seems to drop a lot of the artificial calculation and sharp edges and result in an image that blends pixels naturally.
