Sunset 12 | Moonlight and Sunset
Story:
There’s a tug in me toward the sleepy beach communities I grew up in, with nice but not extravagant homes in walking distance of the sand and a limitless horizon. Surfboards leaned against walls, sand a constant presence in cars, in shoes (when you wore them), constantly abrading hardwood floors and carpets. The feel of warm sand on your feet. The weight of walking through it, that extra effort of shifting feet.
That’s not this. In this section of Manhattan Beach the houses are architected, unique, embodiments of a lifestyle and a privilege, of being right next to the ocean and having the waves practically in your front yard, and the sunset a daily show. But there are small spaces like this one, this warm patio, that could have been in Solana Beach or Del Mar in my childhood.
The painting is 30" x 24" acrylic on 1-1/2" deep gallery-wrap canvas.
